it was 1996 when I invited the presidents of the neighboring colleges to come together to consider what could we do better together and separately these discussions led to the vision for the colleges at the Fenway the idea initially was to provide more options for students in the area than any of us says individual colleges could provide on the standalone basis we have the synergies of six amazing institutions available to our students all of our students and our faculty in our entire community can benefit from the expertise and the special uniqueness of each of our institutions and combined together we're one amazing organization we are also specialized we've been able to really spread the strengths in this consortium both public and private colleges from the very beginning we've set forth to enhance the educational experience for our students and secondly to slow down the escalating costs of education we do purchasing together insurance major supplies we have shared technology we currently have all kinds of collaborations between our institutions we share in our gymnasiums we have a joint book store we have a joint cafeteria we have joint housing together and we're building a new residence hall in which the entire second floor will be a health center that's shared by three of the college's of the Fenway with reducing significantly the cost and passing that savings on to us students our students have the advantage of being in a highly specialized College and at the same time experiencing life on what is like a much larger campus our students relatives from a small college intimate nurturing atmosphere and environment and at the same time to the college's of the Fenway we have the opportunity to offer resources for the major university you kind of feel small at a technical school but having a college of the Fenway's you feel much larger I love the small campus in the city because I really like the city feel but the tiny campus is really great you have to know everyone better avocado just put together like a close-knit community the cornerstone of our collaborative was the cross registration free of charge across the college's of Fenway for our students and you can take. many different classes that aren't offered here and up to two courses per semester which allows them to engage their academic experience in the other colleges of the pendant and our students are able to look at their culture see what they're all about and it's a great benefit there was an ad me course at Simmons.
