hey Jessica and welcome back to another episode of study with Jess and today I am going to be sharing with you my top 10 tips for acing maths. I've actually had. many of you writing your questions about how to study maths and a lot of people usually say that you just have to keep practicing until we get it perfect but I decided I'm gonna make an episode and I'm going to share with you 10 tips that are actually going to make studying maths a lot easier going to help you get those great grades and I wanted to share a little secret with you all actually today. when I was in high school max was not my strong subject I was actually the worst in the class and I really struggled and when I got to university and I decided to study psychology I actually thought that there would not be anything that involved and I was very wrong. I actually had a course statistics class every semester for my undergraduate degree of psychology and that is where I learned all of these skills and I actually ended up getting in the top 5% in statistics and that's actually how I got my full scholarship to do a PhD in psychology the other year. I don't need to miss out and also if you haven't already then make sure you click on the link below and subscribe to see the education room my stationery line because I have just finished a filming a series which is a very exclusive series that you can only access what to remember it's totally free but it's the first of my online study skills sessions for sivan education read and in this session I'm going to be covering how to tackle your major assignment and project. definitely if you haven't already joined that mailing list I guess yeah yeah click the link below and become a seeded members you can gain exclusive this also there is something a very special for you guys at the very end. definitely don't what it is out. yeah click on the link below sign up to be a standard member and it can access and these videos and it will just help you take a study skill to the next level and really help you to get those high marks that you're all striving for I really hope that you find and this episode helpful and without further ado let's just get into these tips because I am just. excited to be doing this episode today because it's about time that Max was no longer. challenging and that it didn't make us. stressed or overwhelmed. let's get into this video. tip number one is to copy all of the information that your teacher write on the board and the regular this tip is really important is because everything your teacher writes on the board is probably going to be on your exam or class test as opposed to things that you've read in your textbook. this is probably the best way to figure out what you should be studying for your tests as well when it comes to max if you are going to be doing a test or an exam and you look down at those questions and you find that yeah that was actually on the board you didn't write it down in your notes and that's just going to be a shame because you could have gotten those marks. make sure that you really pay attention in class and write everything your teacher writes on the board get that down in your notes tip number two is to draw diagrams and tables to help explain the information. for all your visual learners out there until you doing it already but if you are not then be sure to condense all that information into different diagrams chants or tables in your notes it makes it a lot more easier to comprehend the other thing that I find really helpful about drawing out all of this information is that it adds meaning show notes. you're actually going to be more likely to remember it also try and add some color some vibrancy to these diagrams and tables if you happen to find that the information is quite challenging to understand that when you actually just have it in one little diagram it can make a lot more sense. yeah definitely try and include as many diagrams and tables and examples in your notes as you possibly can tip number three is to write down your questions as you complete your homework. the really great thing about writing on any questions that come to my as you complain your work is that you can have peace of mind that your questions are soon going to the answer the other great thing about writing down a straightaway is that you know that you're not going to forget them later on and that they will be addressed. make sure that you're writing your questions down as you go and don't just ignore them and skip over different questions if you don't understand them tip number four is to a separate notebook to write down the questions that you found the hardest to complete and the reason that I like to do this is because you're going to pay more attention to them and they're going to stand out from all of your other notes. that this side can provide some more than the others. a lot of people say that they would just recommend reading through all of your notes and revising them constantly but in reality you don't want to be revising everything equally you want to spend more time revising the questions you've found the hardest and less time revising the ones that you found easiest to complete because at the end of the day if you found something easy to do and you know how to do it then it's in your mind you're not going to forget it and should really be paying more attention to things you still need to work on. I usually like to just have like a small a five notebook and I write down my most challenging questions and then I make sure to review there's more such as the last ten minutes of a study session tip number five is to create a mathematical dictionary. what I mean by this is that more often than not you're going to end up needing to remember some really complex terms or definitions for math. when I was studying statistics last year I had to learn phrases such as linearity variance and heterogeneity and homoscedasticity. they are really confusing terms but the great thing was that when I wrote those down in a separate book it made a lot more sense to me when I was studying it later on because I had all of that information set aside away from all the other confusing terms and just things that were in my notes anyway. I found it really helpful to keep a separate book the great thing that I just came out with recently I was in education is a definitions book. I really recommend grabbing yourself one of these I'm going to link it in the description box below if you want to check it out but what I created was a book for storing all of your definitions and it just had sections throughout the term and then definition Antony. if you don't actually have to use it for just learning new languages or if you have definitions for other subjects like biology or psychology you can actually write your different terms that you're learning formats and then the definition underneath as well as an example question and the other great thing about this book is I've got all different. tips in each chapter as well for you guys. yeah generally check it out I'll leave the link below fuel. tip number six is to review your errors. raise your hand guys if you've ever been completing a math homework you got something wrong and then you just went to the next question because I know I've done it in the past I used to do it but once I started to make sure that when I got a question wrong I actually would look over it and find out where I went wrong I really saw an improvement in my rate. it's really important not just to notice if you got a question wrong but you want to find out where you went wrong was it at the start was it just a little tiny error you write the wrong symbol or you knew how to add up those numbers but you just must have lost your focus and written something else down. yeah definitely be sure to check out where in your questions you went wrong and then make sure that you're writing them down as well. that you're paying attention to them tip number seven is to apply math to real-world problems. staring at a textbook and looking at numbers and symbols can often feel quite boring and it's really hard to know the relevance of why it is that we're sitting in a maths class learning all these different terms and how to calculate the variance of a particular study. yeah definitely make sure to try and figure out a way of making it relevant to your life. for example instead of just learning something alive I don't know 12 times 46 you could say what about there are 12 students and each student has to read 46 pages how many pages were read and also for all of you guys at home it's in at 552 you are correct. well done give yourself a pat on the back there tip number eight is to study in groups. studying groups is afraid it's going to help too much about you and to be able to share around all of your notes and all of you are going to in some way be able to contribute. you might find that there's a particular part of a subject that you don't understand and then a friend of yours might actually know that really well. you can take to his explaining different theories and concepts to each other it's also really helpful to verbalize the information as opposed to just reading it over and over again it also gives it more meaning. studying groups is free it's going to boost your motivation and you're all just going to help each other out tip number nine is to make cheat sheets. the way that I like to make my teaching is I get one piece of paper I fold it up into eight sections and then I write down and different subtopics in each section along with important diagrams charts definitions and then I highlight the really important things that need to stand out it's a great way to consolidate all of your learning and then you can pin it on your pin board at home. you can revise in really quick bytes or you can actually fold it up and put it in your pocket and read over all of those notes right before our test drives down just to jog your memory tip number ten is practice makes perfect actually perfect practice makes perfect. what I mean by that is once you practice these questions over and over again and you eventually start to get them continuously correct then you're going to be able to ace your exam because once that information is in your mind you're not going to forget it it's going to be there you're going to know how to do one question and. if they just reword it differently there's no reason why you should get it wrong. it's really important that you revise all of these different subtopics that you're learning in maths keep practicing them keep giving it a go and eventually you're going to get them right and once you get the right consistently you're just going to smash that test guide. they are my top ten tips for acing your math assignments exams and tests I hope you found them really helpful for your studies and if you did then give this video a thumbs up guys also subscribe to my channel if you're not subscribed already the link is down below the buttons down below the little red button guys I post up a weekly static video. I actually had a course statistics class every semester for my undergraduate degree of psychology and that is where I learned all of these skills and I actually ended up getting in the top 5% in statistics and that's actually how I got my full scholarship to do a PhD in psychology the other year. I don't need to miss out and also if you haven't already then make sure you click on the link below and subscribe to see the education room my stationery line because I have just finished a filming a series which is a very exclusive series that you can only access what to remember it's totally free but it's the first of my online study skills sessions for sivan education read and in this session I'm going to be covering how to tackle your major assignment and project. definitely if you haven't already joined that mailing list I guess yeah yeah click the link below and become a seeded members you can gain exclusive this also there is something a very special for you guys at the very end. definitely don't what it is out. yeah click on the link below sign up to be a standard member and it can access and these videos and it will just help you take a study skill to the next level and really help you to get those high marks that you're all striving for I really hope that you find and this episode helpful and without further ado let's just get into these tips because I am just. excited to be doing this episode today because it's about time that Max was no longer. challenging and that it didn't make us. stressed or overwhelmed. let's get into this video. tip number one is to copy all of the information that your teacher write on the board and the regular this tip is really important is because everything your teacher writes on the board is probably going to be on your exam or class test as opposed to things that you've read in your textbook. this is probably the best way to figure out what you should be studying for your tests as well when it comes to max if you are going to be doing a test or an exam and you look down at those questions and you find that yeah that was actually on the board you didn't write it down in your notes and that's just going to be a shame because you could have gotten those marks. make sure that you really pay attention in class and write everything your teacher writes on the board get that down in your notes tip number two is to draw diagrams and tables to help explain the information. for all your visual learners out there until you doing it already but if you are not then be sure to condense all that information into different diagrams chants or tables in your notes it makes it a lot more easier to comprehend the other thing that I find really helpful about drawing out all of this information is that it adds meaning show notes. you're actually going to be more likely to remember it also try and add some color some vibrancy to these diagrams and tables if you happen to find that the information is quite challenging to understand that when you actually just have it in one little diagram it can make a lot more sense. yeah definitely try and include as many diagrams and tables and examples in your notes as you possibly can tip number three is to write down your questions as you complete your homework. the really great thing about writing on any questions that come to my as you complain your work is that you can have peace of mind that your questions are soon going to the answer the other great thing about writing down a straightaway is that you know that you're not going to forget them later on and that they will be addressed. make sure that you're writing your questions down as you go and don't just ignore them and skip over different questions if you don't understand them tip number four is to a separate notebook to write down the questions that you found the hardest to complete and the reason that I like to do this is because you're going to pay more attention to them and they're going to stand out from all of your other notes. that this side can provide some more than the others. a lot of people say that they would just recommend reading through all of your notes and revising them constantly but in reality you don't want to be revising everything equally you want to spend more time revising the questions you've found the hardest and less time revising the ones that you found easiest to complete because at the end of the day if you found something easy to do and you know how to do it then it's in your mind you're not going to forget it and should really be paying more attention to things you still need to work on. I usually like to just have like a small a five notebook and I write down my most challenging questions and then I make sure to review there's more such as the last ten minutes of a study session tip number five is to create a mathematical dictionary. what I mean by this is that more often than not you're going to end up needing to remember some really complex terms or definitions for math. when I was studying statistics last year I had to learn phrases such as linearity variance and heterogeneity and homoscedasticity. they are really confusing terms but the great thing was that when I wrote those down in a separate book it made a lot more sense to me when I was studying it later on because I had all of that information set aside away from all the other confusing terms and just things that were in my notes anyway. I found it really helpful to keep a separate book the great thing that I just came out with recently I was in education is a definitions book. I really recommend grabbing yourself one of these I'm going to link it in the description box below if you want to check it out but what I created was a book for storing all of your definitions and it just had sections throughout the term and then definition Antony. if you don't actually have to use it for just learning new languages or if you have definitions for other subjects like biology or psychology you can actually write your different terms that you're learning formats and then the definition underneath as well as an example question and the other great thing about this book is I've got all different. tips in each chapter as well for you guys. yeah generally check it out I'll leave the link below fuel. tip number six is to review your errors. raise your hand guys if you've ever been completing a math homework you got something wrong and then you just went to the next question because I know I've done it in the past I used to do it but once I started to make sure that when I got a question wrong I actually would look over it and find out where I went wrong I really saw an improvement in my rate. it's really important not just to notice if you got a question wrong but you want to find out where you went wrong was it at the start was it just a little tiny error you write the wrong symbol or you knew how to add up those numbers but you just must have lost your focus and written something else down. yeah definitely be sure to check out where in your questions you went wrong and then make sure that you're writing them down as well. that you're paying attention to them tip number seven is to apply math to real-world problems. staring at a textbook and looking at numbers and symbols can often feel quite boring and it's really hard to know the relevance of why it is that we're sitting in a maths class learning all these different terms and how to calculate the variance of a particular study. yeah definitely make sure to try and figure out a way of making it relevant to your life. for example instead of just learning something alive I don't know 12 times 46 you could say what about there are 12 students and each student has to read 46 pages how many pages were read and also for all of you guys at home it's in at 552 you are correct. well done give yourself a pat on the back there tip number eight is to study in groups. studying groups is afraid it's going to help too much about you and to be able to share around all of your notes and all of you are going to in some way be able to contribute. you might find that there's a particular part of a subject that you don't understand and then a friend of yours might actually know that really well. you can take to his explaining different theories and concepts to each other it's also really helpful to verbalize the information as opposed to just reading it over and over again it also gives it more meaning. studying groups is free it's going to boost your motivation and you're all just going to help each other out tip number nine is to make cheat sheets. the way that I like to make my teaching is I get one piece of paper I fold it up into eight sections and then I write down and different subtopics in each section along with important diagrams charts definitions and then I highlight the really important things that need to stand out it's a great way to consolidate all of your learning and then you can pin it on your pin board at home. you can revise in really quick bytes or you can actually fold it up and put it in your pocket and read over all of those notes right before our test drives down just to jog your memory tip number ten is practice makes perfect actually perfect practice makes perfect. what I mean by that is once you practice these questions over and over again and you eventually start to get them continuously correct then you're going to be able to ace your exam because once that information is in your mind you're not going to forget it it's going to be there you're going to know how to do one question and. if they just reword it differently there's no reason why you should get it wrong. it's really important that you revise all of these different subtopics that you're learning in maths keep practicing them keep giving it a go and eventually you're going to get them right and once you get the right consistently you're just going to smash that test guide. they are my top ten tips for acing your math assignments exams and tests I hope you found them really helpful for your studies and if you did then give this video a thumbs up guys also subscribe to my channel if you're not subscribed already the link is down below the buttons down below the little red button guys I post up a weekly static video. I don't need to miss out and also if you haven't already then make sure you click on the link below and subscribe to see the education room my stationery line because I have just finished a filming a series which is a very exclusive series that you can only access what to remember it's totally free but it's the first of my online study skills sessions for sivan education read and in this session I'm going to be covering how to tackle your major assignment and project. definitely if you haven't already joined that mailing list I guess yeah yeah click the link below and become a seeded members you can gain exclusive this also there is something a very special for you guys at the very end. definitely don't what it is out. yeah click on the link below sign up to be a standard member and it can access and these videos and it will just help you take a study skill to the next level and really help you to get those high marks that you're all striving for I really hope that you find and this episode helpful and without further ado let's just get into these tips because I am just. excited to be doing this episode today because it's about time that Max was no longer. challenging and that it didn't make us. stressed or overwhelmed. let's get into this video. tip number one is to copy all of the information that your teacher write on the board and the regular this tip is really important is because everything your teacher writes on the board is probably going to be on your exam or class test as opposed to things that you've read in your textbook. this is probably the best way to figure out what you should be studying for your tests as well when it comes to max if you are going to be doing a test or an exam and you look down at those questions and you find that yeah that was actually on the board you didn't write it down in your notes and that's just going to be a shame because you could have gotten those marks. make sure that you really pay attention in class and write everything your teacher writes on the board get that down in your notes tip number two is to draw diagrams and tables to help explain the information. for all your visual learners out there until you doing it already but if you are not then be sure to condense all that information into different diagrams chants or tables in your notes it makes it a lot more easier to comprehend the other thing that I find really helpful about drawing out all of this information is that it adds meaning show notes. you're actually going to be more likely to remember it also try and add some color some vibrancy to these diagrams and tables if you happen to find that the information is quite challenging to understand that when you actually just have it in one little diagram it can make a lot more sense. yeah definitely try and include as many diagrams and tables and examples in your notes as you possibly can tip number three is to write down your questions as you complete your homework. the really great thing about writing on any questions that come to my as you complain your work is that you can have peace of mind that your questions are soon going to the answer the other great thing about writing down a straightaway is that you know that you're not going to forget them later on and that they will be addressed. make sure that you're writing your questions down as you go and don't just ignore them and skip over different questions if you don't understand them tip number four is to a separate notebook to write down the questions that you found the hardest to complete and the reason that I like to do this is because you're going to pay more attention to them and they're going to stand out from all of your other notes. that this side can provide some more than the others. a lot of people say that they would just recommend reading through all of your notes and revising them constantly but in reality you don't want to be revising everything equally you want to spend more time revising the questions you've found the hardest and less time revising the ones that you found easiest to complete because at the end of the day if you found something easy to do and you know how to do it then it's in your mind you're not going to forget it and should really be paying more attention to things you still need to work on. I usually like to just have like a small a five notebook and I write down my most challenging questions and then I make sure to review there's more such as the last ten minutes of a study session tip number five is to create a mathematical dictionary. what I mean by this is that more often than not you're going to end up needing to remember some really complex terms or definitions for math. when I was studying statistics last year I had to learn phrases such as linearity variance and heterogeneity and homoscedasticity. they are really confusing terms but the great thing was that when I wrote those down in a separate book it made a lot more sense to me when I was studying it later on because I had all of that information set aside away from all the other confusing terms and just things that were in my notes anyway. I found it really helpful to keep a separate book the great thing that I just came out with recently I was in education is a definitions book. I really recommend grabbing yourself one of these I'm going to link it in the description box below if you want to check it out but what I created was a book for storing all of your definitions and it just had sections throughout the term and then definition Antony. if you don't actually have to use it for just learning new languages or if you have definitions for other subjects like biology or psychology you can actually write your different terms that you're learning formats and then the definition underneath as well as an example question and the other great thing about this book is I've got all different. tips in each chapter as well for you guys. yeah generally check it out I'll leave the link below fuel. tip number six is to review your errors. raise your hand guys if you've ever been completing a math homework you got something wrong and then you just went to the next question because I know I've done it in the past I used to do it but once I started to make sure that when I got a question wrong I actually would look over it and find out where I went wrong I really saw an improvement in my rate. it's really important not just to notice if you got a question wrong but you want to find out where you went wrong was it at the start was it just a little tiny error you write the wrong symbol or you knew how to add up those numbers but you just must have lost your focus and written something else down. yeah definitely be sure to check out where in your questions you went wrong and then make sure that you're writing them down as well. that you're paying attention to them tip number seven is to apply math to real-world problems. staring at a textbook and looking at numbers and symbols can often feel quite boring and it's really hard to know the relevance of why it is that we're sitting in a maths class learning all these different terms and how to calculate the variance of a particular study. yeah definitely make sure to try and figure out a way of making it relevant to your life. for example instead of just learning something alive I don't know 12 times 46 you could say what about there are 12 students and each student has to read 46 pages how many pages were read and also for all of you guys at home it's in at 552 you are correct. well done give yourself a pat on the back there tip number eight is to study in groups. studying groups is afraid it's going to help too much about you and to be able to share around all of your notes and all of you are going to in some way be able to contribute. you might find that there's a particular part of a subject that you don't understand and then a friend of yours might actually know that really well. you can take to his explaining different theories and concepts to each other it's also really helpful to verbalize the information as opposed to just reading it over and over again it also gives it more meaning. studying groups is free it's going to boost your motivation and you're all just going to help each other out tip number nine is to make cheat sheets. the way that I like to make my teaching is I get one piece of paper I fold it up into eight sections and then I write down and different subtopics in each section along with important diagrams charts definitions and then I highlight the really important things that need to stand out it's a great way to consolidate all of your learning and then you can pin it on your pin board at home. you can revise in really quick bytes or you can actually fold it up and put it in your pocket and read over all of those notes right before our test drives down just to jog your memory tip number ten is practice makes perfect actually perfect practice makes perfect. what I mean by that is once you practice these questions over and over again and you eventually start to get them continuously correct then you're going to be able to ace your exam because once that information is in your mind you're not going to forget it it's going to be there you're going to know how to do one question and. if they just reword it differently there's no reason why you should get it wrong. it's really important that you revise all of these different subtopics that you're learning in maths keep practicing them keep giving it a go and eventually you're going to get them right and once you get the right consistently you're just going to smash that test guide. they are my top ten tips for acing your math assignments exams and tests I hope you found them really helpful for your studies and if you did then give this video a thumbs up guys also subscribe to my channel if you're not subscribed already the link is down below the buttons down below the little red button guys I post up a weekly static video.
