how i got into boston college|gpa, sat score, extracurriculars, etc. (+ some advice)

hey guys I'm Cherie and in today's video I'm gonna be talking about how I got into Boston College and showing you guys some like my stats and extracurriculars and things like that to hopefully strengthen your application keep you guys sound like background and to how I got it as you guys are wondering I am about to be a sophomore at BCC and I'm studying applied psychology and sociology as a double major and minoring in communication it's gonna subscribe by the way because I'm gonna be uploading a lot of Boston College content in the fall when I go back to school and you don't want to miss it I'm. excited to like vlog and stuff like that. don't forget to subscribe really quickly too I just want to say that here's the list of the other schools that I got into. if you're applying to any of the other schools my information will also be related to these other acceptances mostly going to be talking about Boston College cuz obviously that's where I go to school I thought it'd be important to upload this early because a lot of students are applying early decision since that it's like a new thing at BCC. when I applied in 2017 I did apply early action and that was back when it was like restrictive let's just get right into it I just want to say that like obviously there's. many nuances through the college admissions process that I will never begin to understand. I can't really tell you guys like this is a cookie cutter way to get into BC because it changes depending on the year and like the context of where you grew up I found a really helpful though to see like where I stand depending on like people who have gotten into these schools and. hopefully this video helps some of you guys out there okay. I'm going to start with sharing some of my stats which I never thought I would be sharing on the internet out for everyone to see especially if people know me in real life but it will be helpful I guess. for my GPA massage my transcript in the classes I took I think that's what BC looks at the most sorry if I'm looking down by the way cuz all would my information is there and I don't want to get it wrong. my unweighted GPA was a three point two out of four and my weighted GPA was a four point one five out of four point three three I think I'm not sure if those numbers are exact but from what I remember I think that's accurate on high school we had a lot of ApS available to us. I took 11 in my entire like four years which is crazy I know but like I said we had pretty much every single AP class you could think of was available at my high school and it was really normal for people to take like four five six or seven and look just one year. my freshman here I took one my sophomore year I took one and then I took for my junior year and five my senior year if your school doesn't offer as many or like you're taking honors classes instead it's like not that big of a deal it's pretty much the same thing it all just depends on like what your school has to offer and mine for some reason to offer it a lot of ApS for my SAT score I just want to show these stats really quickly because I feel like you'll give you guys some extra information on top of my own. the BC average for the class of 2022 which is the Casas imn was a fourteen sixty five on that new SAT the average age CT score was at 33 but for the SAT I got a 1430 and I think I got like a 730 on the math and a 700 on the English I believe like the middle 50% of PC applicants are like a 1350 to 1460 around their SAT was kind of like right in the middle and I probably could've done better on my SAT to be honest but I'm pretty happy with my score and don't worry if your SAT or a CT score isn't like super-strong they obviously look at other things also submitted to SAT Subject Tests which are completely optional at BCC. if you didn't take them don't worry or if you took them and did do well on them that's also okay you don't have to send them in if you don't want to but I took math one and I got a 7:30 on it and I math - and I got a 700 on it. I sent both of those and I don't really know if they helped me to be honest I just sent them because I was sending them to a bunch of my other schools anyway. for the essay I think that's like where my application probably was the strongest I think I had a good essay I don't know maybe I shouldn't read my cotton FSA I need team I think that'd be a good video basically I chose the prompt where you can write about whatever you want and I talked about how I've kept a journal my entire life and how that relates to like me wanting to be a therapist sasch mental health concert I feel like being concert being a therapist is being to others when a journal has been through me which is like a source to vent to and like a place to express my emotions and feelings and stuff until I thought it was kind of cool how I like tied in what I want to study and also like a new like a really small aspect of my life journaling into like my future career. that's what my common opposite was about and then for the BG supplement and changes every year I'm pretty sure but my number one piece of advice is to find something really specific about BC like just researching google it or like maybe if you visited the school that you said something that like stuck out to you and like really focus your supplement on that definitely you like tie it in to either way you want to study or like how that relates to your future at BC because you want your supplement to be specific to the school and not just something that you like copy and pasted which is why I suggest starting early. you can like do your research and really like write a good supplement because I'm pretty sure it's really important when you apply there for me I think I talked about like the jessamine identity of BC and like things like that and that probably wasn't more specific stuff then maybe what other applicants have written because it just shows I'm interested in the school of Malachi actually put in the time to like understand what me see is all about and lastly I'm going to talk a little bit about extra care like the Lea I'm going to talk a little bit about extracurriculars I feel like everyone just something outside of schools. maybe this section really isn't that helpful but in case you guys were wondering I did badminton and track in high school I was in the couple honor societies here and there to be honest I never really did like and I never really had a leadership position in a club nor was I involved in like a ton of clubs I was really into community service throughout the four years of high school. each summer I would like volunteer with children that look shows consistency and commitment because since I want to be like a counselor in the future for children that relates to like my volunteering and community service and it's probably better if you're like doing things related to what you want to study or like something that aligns with your interests rather than doing something just to like put it on your application and I think they can tell it when you're doing something out of passion versus like out of participation start your application now I know I like I know that I started to mind. early like during the summer and I finished everything before my senior year even started and that like was the biggest relief. that's pretty much it for this video I hope you guys found it somewhat helpful this is like a very weird video for me to film because I don't even know how I got into BC but I don't know maybe this will help some of you guys out there don't forget to subscribe. you don't miss out on any more you see content coming in the fall and throw the summer maybe. yeah I'm super excited guys have a smooth college application process let me know you have any questions down below about BC or any of the other schools I was stood before good luck and let me know how it goes bye guys
